The site of the Urban Harvest Garden Tour kickoff, the Ben Franklin Community Garden is one of the oldest and largest community gardens in Cleveland. First founded as a school garden in 1929, Ben Franklin became a community garden in 1979. Today, the garden has over 204 plots that boast a unique variety of gardening styles, most of which are organic. Not only vegetables grow here-- Ben Franklin is one of the few gardens growing apple, cherry, pear, and peach trees. Giving back to the community is a high priority at Ben Franklin. Last year alone, over 6000 pounds of produce were donated to hunger centers. Don’t miss this Cleveland landmark!
